Englilsh 1101 is, by far, one of the toughest classes I have had in my highschool/elementary career. The bar has definately been raised in the aspect of what is to be expected of us. There is not only more homework, but the assignments are harder, too. I thought it was going to be hard, but i do not think i really understood how much it was going to chalenge my mind.
In past English classes we would recive writing assignments every now and then. They would be a few pages in lenght, at the most. Now, we recieve writing assingments about every two weeks, and they have all been at least a two page minimum. Grammar is a much bigger deal now, too. Every single minor screw up is pointed out to in big, red ink after we have turned in a paper. There is no room for mistakes in this class. Before, I would just write an essay because I was told to. I never really learned anything or had to think too hard about what I was writing about. In college English, however, am always learning a new lesson, or mistake I have been making, or a new tip to make my writing better. My ideas do not come all that easily anymore, either because I know you will not just settle for any old topic, or idea, or style of writing.
I am being pushed to my limits in this class, but thats not always a bad thing. Of course it is work, but I am learning so many new skills that will help me tremendously as I advance into college, and even after when I enter the real world. It also puts me in a good possition for the English 11 class that I am also taking right now. It makes that class seem like a walk in the park! So even if English 1101 is, by far, one of the toughest classes I have had in my highschool/elementary career, I know that it is only going to help me. As the saying goes "what doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger"!
